The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) gives priority to
relieving the suffering of the most vulnerable people in without
discrimination of nationality, race, religious belief, color
or political opinion. It is planned to strengthen the disaster
response capacity of PRCS at all three tiers i.e. National,
Provincial and District level. In this regard initially 27
most disaster prone districts from all the provinces and Azad
Jamu & Kashmir have been selected for the year 2006-2008
for establishment of DM Cells with equipped infrastructure,
staff, volunteer support, warehouse with sufficient stock
at all the time to cope any emergency situation. The main
activities of the Society is to provide emergency relief services,
which include wide range of activities for the poor and marginalized
people in both urban and rural areas.
The PRCS has also been successfully implementing disaster
management initiatives aiming at developing its own ability
as well as improving the capacity of vulnerable communities
through trainings to establish effective disaster preparedness
and response mechanisms.
