Disaster Response
Disaster Response is the sum total of actions taken by people and institutions in the face of disaster. These actions commence with the warning of an oncoming threatening event or with the event itself if it occurs without the warning. Disaster Response includes the implementation of disaster preparedness plans and procedures, thus overlapping with disaster preparedness. The end of disaster response comes with the completion of disaster rehabilitation program.

DISASTER RESPONSE IN BALOCHISTAN

Afghan Refugee Relief Operation (2001-2002): PRCS had also handled a major Afghan Refugee Relief assistance programme benefiting 170925 refugees in years (2001-2002). PRCS with collaboration of UNHCR and other government agencies established 14 camps in Balochistan and NWFP Provinces. 6 Mobile Health Units and 5 Basic Health Units were also setup in these provinces to cater the health facilities to the affectees. PRCS with the help of other NSs and IFRC distributed following relief stores of about Rs.6.489 Million (CHF 162,225) to the Afghan Refugees: Food Packs, Medicines, Blankets, Jersey, Tents, Vehicles, Water Tanks, Bladder Tanks, First Aid Kits, WATSAN Material, NEH Kits, Jackets, Jerry Cans, Kitchen Sets, Pumps, Plastic Sheets, Rubb Halls, Tap Stands, Kerosene Lamps, Medicaments, Medical Equipment, Pipe and Hoses and Plastic Rolls.

Earthquake in India (which also affected the Thar area of Sindh province): distribution of tents (2,010) and blankets (7,600) to affected families.
Floods in Sindh & Punjab (Feb 2003): relief assistance (food parcels, tents, blankets, kitchen sets) of CHF 25,512.

EARTHQUAKE IN NORTHERN AREAS

Earthquake in Northern Areas (2002): relief assistance (food parcels, tents, blankets, kitchen sets) of CHF 57,500.

Floods in Sindh & Balochistan (July 2003): relief assistance (food parcels, medicines) of CHF 136,052, (donated by Turkish, UAE & Iranian Red Crescent Societies)
Floods in Sindh & Balochistan (July 2003); relief assistance (food parcels, medicines, tents, blankets, tents, kitchen sets, kitchen stoves) of CHF 79,233. (Out of which CHF 39,611 were donated by Chinese Red Cross & CHF 39,611 were donated by USAID).
Floods in Sindh (July 2003): relief assistance (logistics support and rice distribution) of CHF 72,500, by ICRC Delegation in Pakistan.

Earthquake in NWFP (Feb 2004); relief assistance (tents, blankets, quilts, kitchen sets, kerosene lamps, pressure cookers) of CHF 26,183.
