' The Voluntary Service is more than a philosophy, a treaty, or a historical institution. It is the embodiment of a worldwide belief that human life and dignity are worthy of respect and protection from the ravages of man and nature. It is a belief that is made real every day by the actions of skilled and trained people who are motivated by a deep personal desire to help others without regard for their own material gain.'

PRCS STAFF BRUSH UP ON COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Eighteen representatives from PRCS National, Provincial and District Headquarters participated in a two day workshop on information dissemination organized in Islamabad recently. These participants came from different departments like health and disaster preparedness, while those from the provinces and districts looked after the overall functions of their respective offices, were essentially the ones working with the beneficiaries. The course objectives, therefore, were to emphasize the use and importance of effective internal and external information flow and train and improve skills for it. It also aimed at enabling the participants function as effective PRCS spokespersons and to make optimum use of media linkages for the enhancement of PRCS image. The very interactive participatory workshop was a combination of "presentations and exercises." Sessions were livened up by the involvement of  working journalists and  photographers. The participants asked all questions concerning what makes a press release a sure to be used one and what gives a photograph that special quality, and consequently gained practical knowledge during these sessions.
