AMIR JAMAAT - E - ISLAMI INAUQURATES POLIO SNID
During a five day Polio Eradication Campaign in NWFP 10,693 children were administered the Polio vaccine by PRCS volunteers. As a partner in the National Polio Eradication Campaign, PRCS has beer involved in the nation wide activities from the production of social mobilization materials to being a part of all public related events in the campaign This particular campaign in December was inaugurated by Amir Jamaat,e,lslami, Qazi Hussain Ahmed, thus ensuring extensive media coverage and increased pubic acceptability for the campaign. A Polio Walk was also organized with active participation by PRCS.
On the actual NIDs a gunfight between two tribes and refusals by several parents to have their children vaccinated created hurdles in the efficient implementation of the campaign. The refusal cases were, however, tackled during a post,monitoring campaign later, making it possible for PRCS to achieve 92.5% of its set target population.


PRCS BLOOD DONOR CENTRE COLLECTS 232 UNITS OF BLOOD
In eleven mobile blood collection camps organized during the months of December 2002 and January 2003,232 units of blood were collected. These camps were organized at International Islamic University, Super Tech Institute, Barani University, Islamabad Model College for Boys besides several other venues. Prior to the collection drives, motivation and education sessions were also organized at most venues. A major quantity of the collected blood, after screening for Hepatitis Band C and HIV were distributed among thallasiemia patients and at various hospitals of the Capital. At PRCS Punjab PHQ, 63 bags of blood were collected at three camps and was later distributed through different hospitals
