We have extended help in the fields of Refugee relief, Reproductive Services, Health, Safe Blood, Disaster, Tracing of Persons Missing as a result of Conflict or Disaster and Dissemination of Humanitarian Values.

ACTIVITIES AT NATIONAL' BLOOD DONOR'

ACTIVITIES AT NATIONAL TRAINING AND RESOURCE CENTRE

In May the National Training and Resource Centre conducted 4 FirstAid to the Injured Courses training 43 participants from UNMOGIP, 15 from the oil fields of Pakistan Petroleum Limited (Adhi), 28 from the Gujar Khan Mills of Kohinoor and 10 from UNHCR Islamabad.

For the month of June the Training Centre has scheduled trainings for Fecto Cement, Family Planning Association of Pakistan (Karachi and Lahore), UNHCRand Fauji Power, Khanewal.Other organisations which have been contacted for future trainings are Tullow Pakistan, the British High Commission, UNICEF and Halcrow Pakistan.

 

ACTIVITIES AT BLOOD DONOR CENTRE
In May, 1 Mobile Blood Camp was organised by PRCS Blood Donor Centre in Ibadat Foundation where a total of 25 units were collected. Blood collection at the Blood donor Centre was 57 units bringing the total units of blood collected to 82 units. 135 units of Blood and Plasma
were distributed during May out of which 42 and 21 were for Thallasaemia and Anaemia. Alongwith PIMS and Thallasaemia the blood was distributed to 11 hospitals in total. Out of the total blood collected 1 and 1 tested positive for Hepatitis Band C. Total income during the month amounted to Rs. 18,400/-.
In the final week of Mayan interactive presentation on Blood Safety was delivered to Beaconhouse Girls Section, Islamabad and Certificates of Appreciation were given to outstanding student participants of the Poster and Essay competition on 'Safe Blood For
All'. 50 of these students were invited to the Blood Donor Centre and. Students o.f Beacon House Girls section aregIVen a detaIled tour of the Blood Donor Centergiven a detailed tour. In undertaking this campaign lectures were delivered in 20 schools and more than 1,651 students were reached. Also, in a motivational/ educational session at Ibadat Foundation 300 students were addressed about the importance of Safe Blood.


Ms. Azhra Khatoon of the Blood Donor Centre having recently attended the training programme on 'Motivation and Mobilisation of Resources in Rural Development' hopes to be able to design new methods of disseminating the Safe Blood message to target groups in the future.
