On the invitation of the National Highway and motorway police, two representatives of PRCS -NHQ accompanied by three NWFP-PHQ staff took part in the road safety seminar organized in Peshawar. The office in charge National training and Resource Centre gave a well -received talk on First Aid in roadside accidents. As an impact of her presentation, several First Aid in the community books was sold. Several people also expressed interest in taking first aid course and were referred to the PRCS -PHQ.

PAKISTAN RED CRESENT SOCIETY’S NHQ PRESS RELEASE
Islamabad, June 17, 2004- Cathy Mears, the Health Advisor of British Red Cross Society (BRCS), came on a six-day visit to Pakistan. During her stay, she was given a guided tour of the National Headquarter ,Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), Torkham, Chaman, and Voluntary Counseling &Testing Center (VCT) in the Punjab Branch and the other provincial branches.

She met with Mr. Khalid Kibriya, Secretary General PRCS, the Provincial Secretaries and the Programme Directors/Managers and matters of mutual interest were discussed that included BRCS potential support for PRCS’s work in the area of health and HIV/AIDS. This visit by the BRCS Health Advisor was for the purpose of exploring and promoting opportunities for greater collaboration with the PRCS in health programming, with special focus on community-based, volunteer-centered health programming and HIV/AIDS.
