On the invitation of the National Highway and motorway police, two representatives of PRCS -NHQ accompanied by three NWFP-PHQ staff took part in the road safety seminar organized in Peshawar. The office in charge National training and Resource Centre gave a well -received talk on First Aid in roadside accidents. As an impact of her presentation, several First Aid in the community books was sold. Several people also expressed interest in taking first aid course and were referred to the PRCS -PHQ.

Strategic planning of 2005 in the three areas of reference

ISLAMABAD
August 4, 2004- Pakistan Red Crescent Society – PRCS- in joint collaboration with the International Committee of Red Cross-ICRC-organized a two day workshop for the strategic planning of 2005 in the three areas of reference that include Law & Fundamental Principles- Dissemination; Conflict Preparedness and Response and Tracing. The participants comprised of the Secretary’s of the provincial branches including the Azad Jammu & Kashmir along with other officers. Mr. Khalid Kibriya, the Secretary General of PRCS presided over the workshop that was attended by Mr. Karl Mattli, Head of Delegation of ICRC; Ms Ijra Saunders, Head of Delegation of International Federation of Red Crescent Red Cross Societies- IFRC.In his welcome address, the Secretary General prioritized the significant areas of work and outlined the objectives of the workshop.

Mr. Karl Mattli, Head of Delegation ICRC, reiterated the strategic objectives of the Movement and highlighted ICRC’s role in protecting and assisting the civilian and military victims of armed conflicts and internal disturbances on a strictly neutral and impartial basis. Furthermore he enumerated ICRC’s future objective of cooperating with the PRCS in extending its work in the FATA area.

All the branch representatives gave individual presentations. Later on, these were thoroughly discussed amongst the participants and then the plan of action for the appeal 2005 was formulated in coordination with the Program Managers at the National Head Quarters, PRCS. It concluded with the development of a comprehensive appeal plan that would be launched for funding by the ICRC delegation in Pakistan to its Headquarters in Geneva.
