On the invitation of the National Highway and motorway police, two representatives of PRCS -NHQ accompanied by three NWFP-PHQ staff took part in the road safety seminar organized in Peshawar. The office in charge National training and Resource Centre gave a well -received talk on First Aid in roadside accidents. As an impact of her presentation, several First Aid in the community books was sold. Several people also expressed interest in taking first aid course and were referred to the PRCS -PHQ.

Preparatory Measures taken by PRCS for the possibility of floods

Islamabad, August 7, 2004- Pakistan Red Crescent Society NHQ has taken preparatory measures with regard to the met office forecast for the possibility of floods in the districts of Badin, Tharparkar and Thatta. The control rooms at the National Head Quarter and the Sindh Provincial Branch have been activated and are constantly monitoring the situation in coordination with all the Government and other agencies involved in flood management. The field officer from the Sindh Branch, PRCS has moved to Badin and is carrying out coordination on ground with the local authorities/agencies in the area for the mobilization of volunteers and flood management resources. If needed the requisite relief items will be sent from the PRCS National Head Quarter, Islamabad to augment the relief efforts of the Sindh Provincial Branch.
