PRCS distributes shelter kits among rain victims

Pakistan Red Crescent Society distributed 100 shelter kits among rain and snow affected families in Hajiara and Rawalakot, of Poonch District. These kits were distributed with the cooperation of German government and German Red Cross. Each shelter kit contains one tent, two mattresses, two blankets, one stove, kerosene oil, edible oil, rice aluminum kitchenware bags of nutritional food. PRCS Secretary General Khalid Kibriya distributed these shelter kits among the victims. Talking to the media men and affected families Rawalakot Council Hall on the occasion of distribution ceremony, the PRCS Secretary General said that keeping in view the destruction made by rains and snow in the area the PRCS as a first step is distributing shelter kits among the affected families, which will be followed, by 400 shelter kits. AJK Minister Haji Muhammad Yaqoob, PRCS AJK Branch Chairman Nawaz Beg, Vice President Abdul Khaliq, Secretary Sarfaraz Naqvi, Additional Commissioner Khursheed Khan and other notables of area were also present on the occasion. Khalid Kibriya said that the PRCS has already distributed relief items worth millions of rupees among the affectees in Nelum Valley. He said that the Society mission is to immediately respond to the victims of rains, snowfall and other natural calamities and help them on emergency basis. He said that the Society has effectively responded to the Tsunami disaster and has contributed significantly to help the Tsunami survivors. He said that the PRCS is utilising all its resources to mitigate the sufferings of the affectees and would continue the relief operation till the complete rehabilitation of the affectees. Appreciating the cooperation of the local administration and the people of the area, he said that the PRCS has able to carry out the relief operation with the concerte efforts made by the people and the local administration. Earlier, The PRCS Secretary General distributed shelter kits among the rain victims of Dorandi, some 12 kilometers away from Hajira. .
