Pakistan Red Crescent Society and TERADATA
Join hands to Provide Educational Support to the Children of Swat
Thursday, December 31, 2009, Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) and TERADATA lay the foundation of partnership in the pursuit of alleviating the miseries of the people of Swat. An MOU was signed here at the National Headquarters PRCS, ensuring the Educational Support to the Children of Swat.
While addressing the representatives of media the Secretary General PRCS Muhammad Ilyas Khan said; the project aims to convene the educational support to 2,500 children of primary schools. Support will be provided in five different locations i.e. Kanju, Migora, Bandai in district Swat, Tamer Gara in district Dir and Pir Baba in district Buner. He further added that; Project implementation strategy would ensure beneficiaries participation in all stages of the project cycle. The sense of ownership will be created in the community through participation and dialogue.
Commenting on the initiative the Managing Director of TERADATA
Mr. Khuram Rahat said that; People living in and around Swat Valley are facing
tough economic choices. Many people were being forced to sell household goods,
jewelry or any other belongings to survive. "Soon they will have nothing
left to sell”.
People have lost their livelihoods because of the damage caused to infrastructure
by over two months of fierce fighting. At this hour of crisis these people
have no money to meet the educational needs of their children hence TERADATA
feels satiated to intervene in much needed area.
